Biography:

Hip-hop and Classical Violinist/violist Kelsey LaCour began her teaching and freelancing career at the age of 11.  Since then, she has performed and toured with ensembles throughout the Midwestern United States and New England region.  Her most notable collaborations include KanYe West; HOPERA: A Hip-Hop Opera; the AME International Convention Choir; Baroque Artists of Champaign; the St. Thomas More Ensemble; DuPage Symphony Orchestra.

With summer studies at the Yale Festival, the International Music Academy at Plzn, and the Chautauqua Institute, LaCour has studied under the likes of the Tokyo String Quartet; Evan Wilson (Los Angeles Philharmonic); Steve Copes (St. Paul Chamber Orchestra); Ani Kavafian; the Ying Quartet; and the Vermeer String Quartet.  Her primary teachers included the Pacifica String Quartet (Indiana University); Sherban Lupu (University of Illinois); Dimitri Murrath (New England Conservatory); and Drew Lecher.

As a vocalist, Kelsey LaCour has performed with different vocal ensembles in Illinois, including the University of Illinois Concert Choir; the IMEA Honors Select Choir; Baroque Artists of Champaign; and the national-champion “Classics” Showchoir.  Most recently, LaCour joined the Baltimore Choral Arts Society, and was hired to the choir at Mt. Calvary Catholic Church in Baltimore City.

LaCour specializes in developing aural and theory skills with her students.  Her areas of expertise include renaissance and baroque small ensemble work, early 20th century art-song, and vocal jazz quartet singing.
