Biography:
Kathryn A. Schatz is a graduate of the Ithaca College School of Music. She has over 35 years of experience teaching the violin and is an expert in both the Suzuki Method and the New Approach Method of Kato Havas. Kathryn loves teaching students of all ages. She is very intuitive in her understanding of how each individual student learns music and she employs many creative teaching ideas. Her approach encompasses sight-reading, memorization, orchestra music, and preparation for auditions and recitals.

Most importantly, Kathryn makes the learning process exciting and fun while maintaining a very high standard of excellence. She studied the Suzuki Method directly with Dr. Shinichi Suzuki in Japan, as well as studying the New Approach Method with Kato Havas in Brattleboro, Vermont, and Oxford, England. Kathryn played violin in the Cheltenham Symphony Orchestra, Cheltenham, England.

She has taught at many summer music programs, including Suzuki Institutes in New York, New Hampshire, Maine, Colorado, and Washington D.C., and the Hague Summer Music School in Holland. Kathryn has also provided teaching workshops and demonstrations with her violin students for the Howard County String Teachers, and the Greater Baltimore-Washington Suzuki Association
